80% of children’s learning is through vision
At glasseslab we recommend all children have their first eye test between 3 to 4 years of age. Children under 16 are entitled to a free annual NHS eye test and a voucher towards glasses if they need them.
As many as one in five school aged children have an undiagnosed vision problem that could interfere with their ability to learn. Common eye conditions such as, lazy eye (ambylopia) and squint (strabismus) are treatable if they are identified and treated early, the sooner vision problems are detected, the better the outcome.
Children don’t have to know their letters to have their eyes checked. It is possible to identify a squint, or glasses requirements, by using age appropriate techniques. Eye tests are made fun and interactive for the little ones!

Children's glasses
All of our children’s glasses come with an easy clean, anti glare, scratch resistant lenses. Our lenses will help reduce glare from white boards, computers and tablets. Our children’s frames are fitted by experienced staff and supervised by our in store Optometrist to ensure optimum frame fitting and vision for your child.
Children’s glasses range from £20 with an NHS voucher, lens upgrades are also available if required.
For older teens there’s a great range of frames from the adult range which they can use their NHS voucher towards the cost.
According to experts, 75% of parents are risking their children's eyesight by exposing them to bright sun without the appropriate protection. The majority of long term sun damage is caused before the age of 18. We offer prescription and non-prescription sunglasses in store with full UV protection.
We also have our lab on site so your child could have their glasses within an hour (subject to prescription). Outside prescriptions are welcome, we accept NHS vouchers from elsewhere.
